The Meatrix set the gold standard for viral advocacy movies when it was launched in November 2003. For a week, it completely saturated web culture, moving to the top of Blogdex (the site that tracks popular blog content) and provoking countless media mentions. The Meatrix is a great example of how a good viral movie can alert millions of people to previously unrecognized problems—in this case, factory farms.
